Cape Canaveral, United States - September 11, 2025 SpaceX successfully launched a powerful satellite for an Indonesian telecom company on September 11, 2025. A Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Nusantara Lima satellite lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 9:56 p.m. EDT, after three days of weather-related delays. About 8.5 minutes after liftoff, the rocket’s first stage returned to Earth, landing precisely on the SpaceX drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. This marked the 23rd launch and landing for booster 1078, just seven short of SpaceX’s reflight record. The upper stage of the Falcon 9 continued carrying Nusantara Lima into geosynchronous transfer orbit, deploying the satellite 27.5 minutes after liftoff. Built by Boeing, Nusantara Lima will operate in geosynchronous orbit, 22,236 miles above Earth, allowing it to remain fixed over one region. The satellite is designed to provide communications across Indonesia’s 17,000 islands and neighboring countries. Adi Rahman Adiwoso, CEO of PSN Group, said, “This satellite will empower communities, schools, and businesses that have never had reliable access before… with the capacity of more than 160 Gbps, will strengthen our capability to provide national capacity for our nation[al] needs.” The satellite is expected to begin operations in 2026 following a series of checkouts. Tonight’s launch was SpaceX’s 114th Falcon 9 mission of 2025, continuing its busy year that also includes Starlink deployments and Starship test flights.
