Emery County Deputies, Citizens Rescue Man From Flash Flood
GREEN RIVER, Utah — Deputies and local residents worked together Saturday to rescue a man trapped in a flash flood on Airport Road, officials said.
Emery County dispatch received a call just after 4 p.m. Sept. 13 about a person stranded in a wash on the south side of Green River. Deputies, the Green River Fire Department, city public works crews and other agencies responded to the scene.
A Green River resident brought a raft to assist. Deputy Josh Opp and resident Kent Nelson used the raft, tied off to a front-end loader, to reach the man and fit him with a life jacket before pulling him to safety.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Officials praised the teamwork of first responders and citizens, noting their quick action saved the man’s life.
