Astro had been withdrawn and barely eating after a recent move to Florida, missing the feline companionship he had at his previous home. His owner introduced Mars, a one-pound foster kitten, with an agreement to adopt once he reaches the required weight. The plan was to wait before introducing them, but Mars’ playful noises on the first night drew Astro downstairs, sparking a moment that viewers have called “pure magic.”

Astro approached Mars gently, sniffed him, and immediately began licking him. From that moment on, the two became inseparable. He was making tiny noises because he was playing with my hands and Astro came down which shocked me. I didn’t know if I should stop the encounter but I didn’t want to scare either of them by keeping them apart. Astro came up to him on his own and immediately sniffed him and then started licking him. Since then, Astro has been downstairs and they follow each other everywhere. The kitten sleeps in the downstairs bathroom and Astro wakes me up at 8 on the dot every morning meowing and making me follow him to the bathroom to open the door so they can be together.
