The Motocross World Championship, or MXGP, wrapped up the Shanghai leg of its 2025 season on Sunday, with riders from 22 countries and regions competing in the high-octane event. More than 90 top riders, representing 33 teams from around the globe, showcased world-class motocross skills, thrilling the audience with a truly international competition. The Shanghai leg is the only Asian stop and the second last event of the season, making the rankings here crucial for overall results. A whole new track designed by the International Motorcycling Federation was featured this year. The 1.65-kilometer MXGP track includes a 66-meter straight, 10-meter average width, 15 turns, and 18 varying slopes up to five meters high. The track is one third smaller than usual, but still needed to meet the demands of the race. Unlike other places, the audiences' seats are set a bit higher above the track to offer a better view for spectators. Major international sporting events like the MXGP also provide a solid platform to boost consumption. The race attracted thousands of visitors to the suburban district of Fengxian each day, offering vast opportunities to boost the local economy. Over 40 percent of the audience at the race came from outside Shanghai. Outside the competition track, there's a market for food, beverages, motorcycle equipment and performances. Organizers said that with one ticket, visitors can get a lot of discounts and even watch other sports events including the ATP Shanghai Masters in October.
