Storyline: The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) issued a statement at an extraordinary session in Doha, Qatar on Monday, condemning Israel's recent attack on Qatar. Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike in the Qatari capital last Tuesday, targeting a building where Hamas officials were meeting to discuss the latest ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States. Five members of Hamas and a Qatari security officer were killed during the strike, while key members of the Hamas negotiating team survived. The extraordinary session was chaired by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and attended by GCC Secretary-General Jassim al-Budaiwi and leaders of the member states of the GCC. The Supreme Council discussed the repercussions of the Israeli aggression against Qatar and the blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty by Israeli occupation forces. The statement pointed out that Israel's attack on Qatar is a blatant assault on the efforts of the international community and organizations to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, release of hostages and detainees, and a blatant violation of international law. The Supreme Council strongly condemns Israel's aggression and blatant violation of the sovereignty of Qatar, emphasizing that such acts of aggression are dangerous and unacceptable, and seriously violate international law and the United Nations Charter. The Supreme Council said that the security of the GCC states is indivisible, and that any attack on one of them is an attack on all. The GCC countries are willing to make every effort to support Qatar, protect its security, stability, and sovereignty against any threats. The Supreme Council also directed the GCC Unified Military Command to take necessary measures to activate the joint defense mechanisms and enhance Gulf deterrence capabilities. The Supreme Council called on the United Nations Security Council, the international community, and influential nations to assume their full responsibilities and take firm and deterrent measures to stop these violations. It also urged all countries and international organizations to take deterrent measures that ensure respect for the sovereignty of the State of Qatar and the protection of civilians.
