US, Los Angeles: Maywood SWAT Team Arrests Armed Barricaded Man With Sound On Tape English And Spanish
Los Angeles, United States - September 16, 2025 09/15/2025 06:20 pm GMT-0700 MAYWOOD, Calif. – A barricaded suspect was taken into custody Monday evening after a standoff with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Maywood, authorities said. The incident began around 6:20 p.m. on the 5000 block of 61st Street, when deputies from the East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station reported a man had barricaded himself inside a residence. The Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) assumed tactical command while the Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with the suspect. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, but no injuries were reported. After several hours, SEB deputies safely concluded their response, and the suspect was taken into custody. The area was declared safe, and evacuated residents were allowed to return home. No additional information about the suspect or possible charges was immediately available from authorities. However, according to some neighbors, it appeared to be a potential domestic situation between a man and a woman, involving a female homeowner. Overall, the three residents who spoke on camera with Key News Network felt the response from authorities was very professional, and the outcome was successful. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department East Los Angeles Station at (323) 264-4151. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), use the “P3 Tips” mobile app, or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
