FATHER OF CHILD SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Arabic)GAZA, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 16: Eight-year-old Palestinian child Yusuf Ali Hussein, who was being treated for Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), died due to lack of medicine in the city of Khan Younis city of Israeli blockaded Gaza. The child, who had no previous health issues, rapidly deteriorated after the disease suddenly appeared. As GBS cases increase among children in Gaza, hospitals struggle with shortages of medicine, equipment, and personnel due to Israeli attacks and the blockade. The lack of life-saving IVIG treatment is deepening the crisis. Yusuf's body was buried by his family after hospital procedures. Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, pushing the territory’s 2.4 million population into famine. The famine-linked death toll since October 2023 rose to 422, including 145 children, the Health Ministry said on Sunday. The Israeli army has continued a deadly offensive on Gaza, killing more than 64,700 Palestinians since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. The military campaign has devastated the enclave. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its war on the enclave.
