Locksmith car crash, phone dying, and a $600 bill: NYC tenant shares nightmare locked out ordeal

A woman living in New York City shared her traumatic ordeal after locking herself out of her apartment at midnight.

Alex Blumenfeld shared her experience to Instagram where she racked up almost 1 million.

She told Newsflare that the first locksmith she called ended up being involved in a car crash and the second one she contacted charged her nearly $600 for a 5-minute job.

"After a night out, I returned home at midnight only to realize I’d left my keys inside. Both of my roommates were out of town, my landlord wasn’t answering, and I had no access to my neighbour's’ fire escaped because everyone in the building was asleep," said the filmer.

"I ended up calling a locksmith, who said he was coming but didn’t come for over an hour- when I called to check in, the receptionist informed me that my locksmith had literally gotten into a car wreck on the way to me and they had no one else to dispatch that night.

"I had 2% left on my phone so I quickly called the only other 24hr locksmith I could find in my area and they said they could come. I also really had to go to the bathroom so I walked down the block to a dive bar to use their restroom and quickly walked back out unnoticed.

"I waited about an hour for the second locksmith, and during this period of time, my phone died. A nice young neighbour who was also coming home from a night out lent me his phone to call the locksmith when he noticed me waiting by the front door.

"They answered and said they were on the way, finally. It took them all of 5 minutes to unlock my door, and without blinking, after letting me in, they informed me that my bill would be nearly $600."
