Firefighters' painstaking rescue of horse with hypothermia trapped in thick mud pit
On September 13, in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, a herdsman called the police, reporting that his horse had become trapped in a mud pit and could not escape, requesting help from the local fire department.
Firefighters immediately rushed to the scene. They learned that the horse had been stuck for several hours, with its legs deeply embedded in the mud, and was already showing signs of hypothermia.
Since the surrounding area was all muddy terrain, the rescue vehicle could not get close. Firefighters entered the mud themselves, tied ropes around the horse’s front and back legs, and attempted to pull it free while constantly soothing the animal and helping it regain strength.
However, the suction of the mud was too strong, and the horse could not be freed by that method. The team then requested a crane from the city to assist.
After more than three hours of effort, the horse was finally rescued and led safely home by its owner.
