This is the dramatic moment a boy was rescued after he was flung from inside a pickup truck in a horror crash in Thailand.

The family of five were travelling to Chonburi province when a rear tyre exploded sending the vehicle spinning out of control on Sunday.

CCTV footage shows the truck hurtling backwards into a shop in Nakhon Ratchasima, ploughing through shelves and shattering plates across the floor.

A boy miraculously survived despite being thrown out the window and pinned under the vehicle.

Frantic locals battled to lift the pickup as the youngster screamed in pain.

Medics soon arrived and gave first aid before rushing the family to the hospital. They said three adults and two children were wounded.

The father, who had been driving, said: 'I was on my way to work when the rear left tyre burst, sending us veering toward the roadside. I couldn't control the truck so it smashed into the shop near the factory.

'I am grateful to the people who helped my son. I can't imagine what could have happened if the truck had rolled over him.'

Police said they were further investigating the cause of the accident.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
