09:20 hrs.East Liberty and State Rout 61Atlas, Northumberland County, Pa Truck upright at 08:09 and 13:20This incident was caused when a dump truck carrying over 46,000 lbs. of culm (coal dust) failed to slow ad it came down Mid Valley road Rt. 2032. The driver stated he missed a gear on the steep grade. The driver then lost control and failed as he was unable to stop at the intersection of Rt. 61 and Rt. 2032. The driver attempted to turn on to Rt. 61 when the truck rolled onto its side and slide across State Route 61 continuing across the parking area of Car Quest Auto Parts and Greco Service Station. Striking the building and several parked vehicles and came to rest on top of a green van after the cab went through a concrete barrier wall. The Culm broke thru several of the storefront windows and filled the store aisles. Some of the products made it to the rear of the store.The driver was transported to a local hospital.Traffic due to this incident had to be detoured for several hours as Rt. 61 and 54 remained closed in both directions until after 14:00 hrs.In total 7 vehicles sustained damage.
