Midnight Crowd Gathers For Famous Halal Street Food In Manhattan
A video shared by X account New York City Kopp shows a massive crowd stretching through the night at the corner of 49th Street and 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Hungry customers lined up at midnight for chicken and rice platters from Adel’s Famous Halal Food, a street vendor famed citywide.
The clip captures the cart’s enormous popularity, with people filling a full block beneath Midtown’s glowing neon lights and towering skyscrapers.
New York City Kopp commented on the striking sight, noting how the cart continues to attract crowds even in the late hours.
Adel’s menu features chicken over rice, lamb over rice, combination platters, and lamb gyros or sandwiches. Meals are served with either yellow rice or a spicier version and topped with their signature white sauce or fiery red sauce.
The vendor is located on the southwest corner of West 49th Street and 6th Avenue, opening around 6 PM and often serving until 4 or 5 AM on weekends. Delivery and pickup are available via Seamless.
The viral video highlights the cultural importance of halal carts in New York City, offering affordable, flavorful meals and late-night service that have made them a beloved city tradition.
