This is the moment a mother scooped up her toddler seconds before a lorry crashed into a home.

Three women were gathered outside their houses with their children when the runaway fuel truck veered across the pavement towards them in Pernambuco, Brazil.

CCTV footage shows the mum sitting on a doorstep, quickly pulling her young son off the ground when she noticed the heavy goods vehicle rolling in their direction on September 9.

The women then scattered to safety as the white truck hurtled forward, striking a pink and teal toy car.

An onlooker said the driver had just climbed out of the cab when the brakes failed.

No one was reportedly injured in the incident.
