Los Angeles, United States - September 18, 2025 09/18/2025 12:01 am GMT-0700 HOLLYWOOD HILLS WEST, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A brief period of heavy rain hit the Hollywood Hills early Thursday morning, visibly soaking roadways in the area. The rainfall was captured in the 8600 block of Wonderland Avenue, where the downpour lasted approximately five minutes. Water flowed down the roadway, carrying mud, leaves, and debris. This rain was reportedly the first significant precipitation for this area since last year. According to a representative from the National Weather Service, Southern California is expecting more rain and possible thunderstorms today (Thursday) and Friday, which has prompted a flood watch for many areas. "Localized flooding in roadways and low areas is possible," the NWS reported. "There is a 20% chance for minor debris flows from recent burn scars, and 15% for more significant debris flows." The NWS also indicated that while most areas will receive some rain, localized flooding could occur, particularly in areas recovering from wildfires. Officials from Los Angeles are closely monitoring the forecast and coordinating response efforts across various city departments in preparation for the weather conditions.
