NCCC Dispatched a working structure fire at
10 Fifth Street
Ranshaw, Coal Township, Pa


No one was home when the fire started in this former Church built in 1904.
An Alert neighbor noticed the fire and woke up her husband and dialed 9-1-1.
Upon arrival the fire department found the fire already self-vented through the roof.
Firefighters initially used an interior attack to be sure the home was cleared before setting up defensive operations.
Due to Water flow issues tanker operations were setup. A water main broke at Fourth and Webster streets.
The fire Chief Russ Feese determine that a coal stove is believed to have caused a two-alarm fire Friday night that destroyed a former church that had been converted into a residence.
Responding to the scene were fire and ambulance personnel from Coal Township, Shamokin, Elysburg, Ralpho Township, Wilburton, East Cameron Township, Beaverdale, Trevorton, Marion Heights and Mount Carmel.
