Los Angeles, United States - September 18, 2025 09/18/2025 03:30 am GMT-0700 ARLETA, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A jackknifed truck and a collision involving a Tesla early Thursday morning shut down several northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway under the 170 Freeway, prompting a SigAlert. The crash was reported about 3:30 a.m., when a white truck jackknifed and blocked lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident log. Shortly after, a gray Tesla was rear-ended in the same area. A liquid was seen leaking from the truck, and major front-end damage to the Tesla forced the closure of lanes 3, 4, and 5, according to CHP. Crews issued a SigAlert at 3:48 a.m. for the HOV and lanes 1 through 3, with no estimated time of reopening. Multiple tow trucks were requested, and heavy-duty wreckers were dispatched to clear the scene. At one point, officials discussed the possible transport of animals in the semi, according to the log. Roads were wet at the time of the crash.
