Search teams began combing the forests and valleys near the Barzona area late Wednesday afternoon. Early Thursday, a ground team—including firefighters, Guardia di Finanza, and Alpine Rescue personnel—located the missing man. He was then airlifted to safety by Drago VF153 and was reported to be in good health.
