3. VARIOUS OF LIFELESS BODY OF PALESTINIAN CHILD DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA, PALESTINE - SEPT. 20, 2025: An eight-year-old Palestinian boy died of malnutrition Saturday in the famine-stricken Gaza Strip, as Israeli airstrikes and gunfire killed at least 17 others across the territory, medical sources said.
The boy, identified as Mohammed Shahin, succumbed to hunger-related complications after months of severe food shortages caused by Israel’s blockade and bombardment. His body was taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
In Gaza City, two children were killed when Israeli warplanes struck the Al-Mu’tasim School, which was sheltering displaced families near Yarmouk Stadium, a medical source told Anadolu. Another woman was killed in a strike near the Jordanian Hospital in the Sabra neighborhood, while a man was killed and others wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on people waiting for aid in central Gaza, according to Al-Awda Hospital.
Four members of the Jumla family also died at dawn when Israeli warplanes hit their home in Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood, while another Palestinian was killed and others injured in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said 14 civilians were injured when Israeli forces targeted the area around Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City’s Tel al-Hawa neighborhood.
Local health authorities said 17 Palestinians were killed since dawn Saturday, 14 of them in Gaza City alone.
The Israeli army announced the closure of Salah al-Din Street, the enclave’s main north-south artery, to forcibly displaced civilians, leaving only the coastal Rashid Street open as bombardments of Gaza City and northern areas continued.
Israel has been waging a devastating genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, killing more than 65,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
