At my house at the edge of a jungle area, I get to meet all sort of wildlife up close. There used to be a large pond behind my house that was inhabited by all sorts of wildlife, including ducks, kingfishers, dragonflies, fish large and small, and even the occasional monitor lizard visited my back wall, along with a family of gecko's. The pound unfortunately has long gone, it was trained and filled in to make way for an apartment block. This place used to be home for a family of water hens. One of them recently visited my back yard, and even ventured into the house one day. We gave him some pieces of bread which he enjoyed. These birds are usually very shy and wary of people. We gently coaxed him out of the house. I fond the remains of another water hen in my next door neighbors yard. He had been dead for weeks and was decomposing. I suspect that a cat got him, I often see a cat on our back wall on the prowl. I hope that this little bird is ok, it was a wonderful experience to see such a bird up close.
