VARIOUS OF VEHICLES CARRYING DISPLACED FAMILIESGAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEPT. 21: Palestinians in Gaza City continued to flee southward on Sunday, Sept. 21, as Israeli forces launched ground operations following days of airstrikes. Families carried belongings and traveled along Rashid Street, moving under evacuation orders and heavy bombardment. Many left with only what they could take in vehicles or by hand, describing dire conditions as they sought safety in southern areas of the enclave. Since March 18, the Israeli army has resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 12,724 people and injuring 54,534 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January, according to the ministry. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its war on the enclave.
