The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that a Houthi drone strike damaged a hotel in southern Israel on Wednesday.

CCTV footage captured the dramatic moment of the alleged attack, showing debris flying through the air before flames broke out on the side of the building in the city of Eilat.

Authorities reported minor damage to the structure but confirmed that no injuries were sustained on September 18.

The IDF said the strike was one of more than 200 attacks launched by the Houthis since October 2023, amid the ongoing Israel–Hamas conflict.

Just hours after the incident, air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv as Israeli forces intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at central Israel. The rocket was reportedly brought down outside Israeli airspace.

A spokesman for the Iran-backed Houthis claimed responsibility, describing the attack as retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes in Yemen, including operations in Hodeidah and the reported killing of their prime minister.

Israel has blitzed the Gaza Strip in retaliation for an attack by the governing party Hamas on a Jewish music festival on October 7, 2023.

However, the situation, which Israel claims is self-defence, has attracted criticism from around the world.
