This is the shocking moment a car crashed into a fuel station, sparking a fire that nearly burned a pump attendant alive.

Nguyen Minh Hieu was filling up a motorcycle when the hatchback rammed into a fuel dispenser, causing it to topple over him in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the white car reversing into the dispenser post, which then collapsed and burst into flames while Nguyen was still pinned beneath it on September 20.

He immediately crawled away as the blaze spread to the motorcycle and the pump, while other motorists quickly backed away.

Nguyen's shoes caught fire but were swiftly extinguished by his colleagues.

He escaped without life-threatening injuries, sustaining only minor burns.

Nguyen said: 'Seeing the fire raging violently, I quickly ran away. The fire hit the hem of my trousers, making me panic and scream for help. My colleagues immediately took off my shirt and helped put out the fire.

'If I had delayed a few more seconds, my life could have been in danger. My health is now stable. My leg is slightly burned, and I just need to change the bandage daily until it heals.'

His co-worker, Van Giang, said he had just finished his shift when he heard Nguyen's muffled cries. Rushing out of the office, he grabbed a fire extinguisher and battled the flames.

He said: 'Witnessing the fire, I tried to stay calm, holding a fire extinguisher and spraying it. That action was my responsibility. If there had been any delay, the fire could have spread and endangered other customers.'
