This is the chaotic moment Chinese and Vietnamese players had a mass brawl during a football match.

Footage shows the athletes clashing with each other at the Communist Workers' Stadium in Beijing, China, on September 18.

The referee and linemen struggled to control the fracas, even tumbling over as they were dragged into the scuffle.

As tensions flared, furious Chinese spectators began throwing water bottles onto the pitch, some of which struck Chinese medical staff and Vietnamese footballers.

Players from both teams later managed to calm down the crowd.

The incident occurred during the AFC Champions League Two bout between Vietnam's Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) and China's Beijing Guoan.

Yellow cards were issued to footballers Cao Quang Vinh, Wu Shaocong, Stefan Mauk and Wang Ziming. None of them were dismissed and the game finished 2-2.

The mass brawl was allegedly sparked when Beijing players reacted strongly to CAHN's request to move an injured player off the pitch, leading to the fight.

Beijing Guoan now faces disciplinary action from the AFC for the object-throwing from their spectactors.
