Located on the shores of Arcachon Bay about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Bordeaux, the dune rises prominently over the coastal landscape.
It contains an estimated 60 million cubic meters (2.1 billion cubic feet) of sand, stretching about 500 meters (1,640 feet) east to west and 2.7 kilometers (1.7 miles) north to south.
Its vast scale, natural setting and panoramic views have made it one of France’s most popular natural attractions.
