This is the heartwarming moment a grandmother burst into tears during a birthday surprise from loved ones.

Magdalena Gayatin became emotional when her family and friends suddenly appeared at her front door with cake and food in Rizal, the Philippines.

She was smiling widely when she first saw them before the elderly woman cried.

Her children and grandchildren each gave her a kiss, while her closest friends embraced her warmly.

Grandchild Genalyn Noveda said: ‘My grandma usually comes to visit us every single day since she lives in another village with my cousins.

‘On her birthday, she woke up at 4am, but no one called her to wish her a happy birthday.

‘She thought we had all forgotten her special day, so she went to church instead. We waited and surprised her when she returned home.'

The grandmother also spoke to her daughters living in another country through a video call.

She said: ‘I thought you forgot about me.'
