US, Los Angeles: Exposition Park Suspect Barricades With Machete
Los Angeles, United States - September 24, 2025 09/23/2025 10:00 pm GMT-0700 EXPOSITION PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division was working on a barricaded suspect situation at the intersection of Budlong Avenue and Browning Boulevard overnight. Officers were dispatched to the location in response to an assault with a deadly weapon suspect around 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for the LAPD. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male subject, reportedly armed with a machete. The situation escalated when officers issued an "officer needs help" call. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots as the male retreated into a garage and barricaded himself inside. It was determined that there was no officer-involved shooting. However, officers deployed less-lethal munitions on the suspect, but they were not effective. Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said the LAPD requested the LAFD for a medical standby for a barricaded suspect. An LAPD SWAT team responded and attempted to take the suspect into custody. The LAPD spokesperson told Key News Network that the barricade incident concluded at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday. According to Stewart, the 39-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There are no further details.
