This is the shocking moment a wild monkey was caught stealing a bag from a parked motorcycle.

Darren Wu spotted the hungry macaque rummaging through the black scooter outside the Sun Yat-Sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Footage shows Darren calling out to the primate, which suddenly lunged towards the seat on September 18.

Startled, he backed away as the monkey fixed him with an intense glare before continuing to rummage through the bike's small storage space.

Moments later, it snatched a yellow box and made off with it.

In another clip, the same monkey was seen sitting on the ground, calmly munching on a piece of bread.

Authorities have advised the public not to approach wild monkeys in the area to avoid possible attacks.

Monkey bites can cause serious wound infections and may transmit dangerous diseases, including the herpes B virus and rabies.
