COLUMBIA, Md. — Two Howard County police officers are being credited with rescuing a dog from a house fire after rushing inside to save the pet, officials said.

Police Officers Amaro and Aghamalian were first to arrive at the reported house fire, where they encountered residents outside pleading for help. Without hesitation, the officers entered the home, located the dog and safely evacuated it.

The department praised their actions, noting the officers acted quickly despite not knowing the severity of the fire. Both the residents and the dog were unharmed.
