Boy, 9, is "real life Sheldon Cooper" taking college classes and in high school
Meet the real-life Sheldon Cooper - a nine-year-old genius who is in high school and already taking college classes.
Aiden Wilkins was just two-years-old when his mom Veronica, 43, noticed he could read road signs.
He could read before he could walk and completed his first book by himself when he was three-years-old.
When Aiden started school in March 2023, he started in third grade and is currently in 10th grade.
As well as studying in a local charter school, Aiden spends three days a week taking neuroscience classes at Ursinus College - in the hopes of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon.
Veronica, who works in insurance, from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, said: "I am extremely proud of him."
"Aiden has done this all on his own. I am trying to keep up with him."
"He loves college, he ran into the president of the college one day and told him it was easy."
"Even some of the children in his class feel it is hard, and he gets on with it and says it is fine."
"He knows how to absorb a lot of information."
Aiden started talking before he walked at 18 months old.
By the age of two, he was reading restaurant signs and billboards, and by three, he had read his first book - Gifted Hands, The Ben Carson Story - on his own.
Veronica said: "I noticed pretty much straight away that Aiden was gifted."
"By the age of one, he was speaking. He would read restaurant and billboard signs on the street."
"He read his first book by himself when he was three years old - it was all organic."
Aiden started kindergarten in 2022, and within a year was moved up to second grade.
Veronica then decided to enroll Aiden in a private school with a gifted program in March 2023.
She said: "He started this year in third grade. They have a full gifted program and were very supportive and on board."
"He took a gifted test in June 2023, and it showed he could move to fifth grade at a minimum."
"Once he got into fifth grade, he felt like it was easy for him."
"We advocated on his behalf, and they accelerated him until he felt comfortable."
A year ago, Aiden told Veronica he wanted to attend college, and took a college test - which he passed.
Earlier this year - two weeks before he started in tenth grade - Aiden enrolled in Ursinus College, studying neuroscience.
Veronica said: "He is really enjoying himself."
"He had two weeks of college under his belt before he started high school."
"Aiden is loving it. He had two weeks of college under his belt before he started high school."
Aiden, added: "What I love about learning is that every new concept fascinates me."
"Being successful is about putting in the work to everything, even things that may be challenging - it's about resilience and having a positive mindset."
Aiden is studying neuroscience in the hope of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon.
Despite his love of education, Veronica said that Aiden also loves typical nine-year-old experiences like video games and soccer.
Veronica said: "He plays sports, and loves soccer and basketball."
"He does kids' things, plays video games and goes out with his friends."
"He has a good balance. My job as a parent is to make sure he has a good balance."
"He is behaving like a child and doing childlike things."
