Residents of Beit Ur al-Fuka said the work aims to connect Israeli settlements and complete the encirclement of their village.
Ali Faysal Samara, head of the village council, said Israeli bulldozers are opening a road from the north to link settlements, leaving only a small part of the village’s 4,500 dunums of land intact.
Another villager and council member, Eshref Samara, said the project is intended to seize land and restrict Palestinian access.
At least 1,047 Palestinians have been killed and more than 10,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and illegal settlers since October 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
