China: Cities across China ready for National Day celebrations
Streets and neighborhoods across Chinese cities have been adorned with national flags for the upcoming National Day, which falls on Wednesday, to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Rows of five-starred red national flags line the streets of Shenzhen, a tech hub in south China's Guangdong Province. In the "Eye of Shenzhen", a transportation hub in the city, two giant national flags have been hung in prominent positions, attracting enthusiastic residents to take photos. "I'm so excited to see the national flag," said a resident surnamed Tian. Residents nationwide celebrate the event in various forms to express their love for the country. In the Shiyi Qiang Village square of Beichuan County, Mianyang City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, hundreds of tourists and villagers together held up a massive national flag measuring 14.4 meters by 9.6 meters while singing "Ode to the Motherland" in unison. At Vocational Flight College of Mianyang, over 100 students formed the number "76" to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of PRC. Dozens of students held up a giant national flag when everyone sang "Me and My Motherland", voicing their love for the country. Meanwhile, in Nanchang, east China's Jiangxi Province, national flags have been neatly arranged along major roads, blending with green plants and colorful flowers. "When the flags go up and the flowers bloom, we all know National Day is coming," said Gong Hongni, a resident. In Taizhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, the national flags have been placed on lamp posts along the city's Yingchun Bridge. As night falls, the bright lights cast a glow on the flags, making their red color appear more vivid. The flags, together with red lanterns along the street and the nearby ancient covered bridge, create a solemn and radiant scene, evoking a strong sense of national pride and belonging among passing residents.
