Fishermen were seen struggling to secure their boats against the rough seas as Typhoon Bualoi tore through Vietnam.

Footage shows a crew rushing to dock their small vessel as large tidal waves crash against the shore on September 29.

Typhoon Bualoi hit Vietnam with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 12 people dead and 17 reported missing in Quang Tri province after massive waves struck two fishing boats.

Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced thousands of families into evacuation centres.

It has now weakened into a tropical depression as it moves towards Laos.
