Typhoon Bualoi submerged a family home in knee-deep floods in northern Thailand, as the storm brought heavy rain and widespread disruption to the region.

Footage shows household appliances and other items from the living room floating in floodwaters in Uttaradit province on September 30.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday for the North, Northeast, East, and the western coast of the South, due to the influence of the storm.

Bualoi hit Vietnam early Monday morning with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 19 people dead and 88 others injured.

The freak weather had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

It has now weakened into a tropical depression as it moves towards northern Laos.
