Eight tourists were injured when a boat capsized during a parasailing trip in Malaysia.

Footage shows the parasail canopy descending into the water off the coast of popular holiday island Langkawi on Sunday September 28.

Another clip shows emergency responders assisting in righting the overturned vessel amid strong winds.

Langkawi Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Samsulmuddin Sulaiman said officers were alerted to the incident at Pantai Tengah at around 1:15 pm local time.

Sulaiman added: 'The boat was carrying six tourists - three adult men, two women, and a boy - along with two crew members. At the time of the incident, one of the tourists was parasailing but was safely brought down.

'The incident is believed to have occurred during strong winds, and all the victims were rescued by bystanders who were at the scene.'

Authorities confirmed that none of the victims sustained serious injuries. All were taken to Sultanah Maliha Hospital for treatment.

Officials have urged boat operators and holidaymakers to monitor weather conditions closely and follow safety protocols, especially during the ongoing inter-monsoon period, which brings unpredictable storms and strong winds.
