Typhoon Bualoi uprooted trees and tore off roofs as it pummeled northeastern Thailand.

Fierce winds blitzed a village in Khon Kaen province, damaging several buildings on September 29.

Footage shows trees toppled by strong gales at a local school. Another clip shows the roof of a family's house had been blown away, leaving the interior exposed.

Homeowner Chuchart Somboonnoi, 43, said: 'At around 2:30 pm on September 29, heavy rain fell for hours before a tornado ripped through for about five minutes, tearing the roof off and blowing it onto the lawn of Ban Mai Na Phiang School across from my house, which was also struck hard by the storm.'

He added that the open roof was temporarily covered with a tarp while repairs, estimated to cost 50,000 baht (1,150 GBP), were ongoing.

At the neighbouring school, six large trees collapsed during the storm, including a century-old tree struck by lightning.

Bualoi struck Vietnam early Monday morning, with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 19 people dead and 88 others injured.

Authorities confirmed that Bualoi triggered at least eight tornadoes across several provinces in Vietnam, including Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, and Hanoi.

In Ninh Binh, the extreme weather left nine people dead and 18 injured. Eleven single-storey houses collapsed, 126 homes were damaged, and 53 utility poles were brought down.

Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

The Thai Meteorological Department said Bualoi has been downgraded to an active low-pressure system over Laos. It was expected to cause heavy rainfall and flooding in northern regions while moving along the monsoon trough across the region.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said at least seven were killed in floods in Thailand.
