London, United Kingdom - June 25, 2025 Parents of several children thanked the Metropolitan Police for “giving them a voice when they didn’t have one” on the day a nursery worker was sentenced for abusing children in her care. Roksana Helena Lecka, 22, of Avro Place, Hounslow, appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 26 September. She was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of 21 counts of child cruelty. The case exposed months of abuse inflicted on infants while she worked in nurseries. Detective Inspector Sian Hutchings of the Met Police’s Public Protection Command said: “Today’s sentencing concludes a complex and emotional investigation. The victims in this case are just babies, with the youngest being just 10 months at the time of the offences.” Officers were first called to a nursery in Twickenham in June 2024 after concerns were raised about Lecka’s behavior. Enquiries uncovered her abusive actions at two nurseries between October 2023 and June 2024. CCTV captured her repeatedly pinching and hitting children, shoving them to the floor, pulling their hair, kicking them in the face, and vaping towards their cots. Investigators reviewed 300 hours of footage within 10 days and collected statements from parents, some of whom shared photos of injuries on their children. Lecka was arrested on 5 July and gave no comment during interviews, refusing to acknowledge the CCTV evidence. On 25 July 2024, she was charged with multiple offences including child cruelty, actual bodily harm, and attempted grievous bodily harm. This indictment was later amended to 24 counts of child cruelty. A jury convicted her on 21 counts on 16 June 2025, clearing her on three. Lecka has now been barred from working with children. Detective Inspector Hutchings praised the parents for their resilience and their dignity throughout the trial. She also commended Detective Constable Eloise Hand and Detective Sergeant Geoff Boye for their work, which ensured Lecka could no longer harm children.
