Widespread flooding has left residents stranded across Spain after torrential rains caused streets to turn into rivers.

Footage shows fast-moving muddy floodwaters sweeping through the roads of Molina de Segura, Murcia, on September 29.

No injuries have been reported so far.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged residents to follow the advice of emergency services to prevent a repeat of last year's devastation.

In late October 2024, torrential rains struck Valencia, Spain. The resulting floods claimed 232 lives and left several people missing after intense downpours caused rivers to overflow, damaged infrastructure, and forced thousands to evacuate.

The freak weather was said to be caused by a phenomenon locally referred to as 'Depresion Aislada en Niveles Altos' or DANA - an air mass that is colder than its surroundings at higher levels.
