FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A Foxborough police officer has been commended with the Life Saving Award after rescuing a crash victim from a burning vehicle this summer, officials said.

On July 25, Patrolman Brendan Fayles responded to a motor vehicle accident on South Street where a car had crashed into a residence and caught fire. Upon arrival, he saw flames beginning to spread and acted quickly.

Fayles smashed the passenger window, pulled the injured occupant from the car and moved them to safety just before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

The department credited his quick response and bravery with directly saving the victim’s life. Officials said Fayles’ actions reflect the highest standards of courage and dedication to duty.
