Video shows youths retrieving phone from track - then running off with it
A shocking video appears to show a gang of youths retrieving a phone from train tracks - and then running off with it.
An onlooker filmed the incident at Ilford station in East London on September 22.
British Transport Police said: "Officers were contacted at around 6.40pm on Monday 22 September following reports that a woman had her phone stolen at Ilford station."
"A group of youths bumped into the victim, causing her to drop her phone which then fell into the tracks."
"One of the youths retrieved the phone and they then ran away."
"Officers are aware of a video of the incident circulating online and enquiries are ongoing."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that could help police should text BTP on 61016 using reference 22 September.
