-BOGOTA, COLOMBIA — OCT. 2, 2025: Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir, Colombia’s Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs, spoke on Thursday, Oct. 2, about relations with Türkiye and Colombia’s position on the war in Gaza. Jaramillo described Türkiye as a strategic cultural and geopolitical partner, stressing its role in diversifying Colombia’s foreign relations. “Türkiye is a key partner for Colombia, first of all because it helps us diversify our foreign relations,” he said. “We believe Türkiye is our gateway to Europe, Central Asia, and even parts of the Middle East, while Colombia can serve as Türkiye’s gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.” Turning to Gaza, he urged concrete international measures, including the creation of a multinational protection force, and condemned Israel's actions as “an apartheid and ethnic cleansing.”
