Loyal dog risks life to swim through flood in search of owner
This is the heartwarming moment a loyal pet dog risked its life swimming through floods while looking for its owner.
The pooch named Luang battled against strong currents as Typhoon Bualoi lashed Uttaradit province on September 30.
Footage shows the canine trying to swim back to its home, unaware its owners had already been rescued earlier that morning.
Onlooker Kittiya was heard shouting frantically from the roadside: 'Don't go, you will be swept away. Come back. Your owners are fine, you're the one who will be gone first.'
But the loyal pooch refused to give up, repeatedly attempting to reach the house before paddling back to the roadside.
Kittiya said she tried to rescue Luang when it scrambled back towards the riverbank but the dog was aggressive towards her.
She added: 'Fortunately, the uncle and aunt in the house were rescued, along with their son and other relatives.'
Bualoi struck Vietnam early Monday morning, with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 19 people dead and 88 others injured.
Authorities confirmed that Bualoi triggered at least eight tornadoes across several provinces in Vietnam, including Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, and Hanoi.
In Ninh Binh, the extreme weather left nine people dead and 18 injured. Eleven single-storey houses collapsed, 126 homes were damaged, and 53 utility poles were brought down.
Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.
The Thai Meteorological Department said Bualoi has been downgraded to an active low-pressure system over Laos. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said at least seven were killed in floods in Thailand.
