Los Angeles, United States - October 04, 2025 10/03/2025 06:30 pm GMT-0700 DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A man was taken into custody following a lengthy barricade situation at Los Angeles City Hall on Friday afternoon. The incident began when the driver crashed into the steps of City Hall around 4:07 p.m. During the standoff, a cardboard sign displayed on the car's windshield appeared to read, "I NEED UR HELP D TRUMP US VET." Police negotiators spoke with the driver as he remained inside the vehicle. Eventually, he exited the sedan with his hands up, walking down Spring Street toward officers. He was handcuffed without incident around 5:50 p.m. As a precaution, City Hall was evacuated, and several streets in the area were closed during the situation. While the response was ongoing, Mayor Karen Bass thanked first responders in a statement, assuring the public that her office would continue to monitor the situation.
