The attack came despite a public call from former U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday for an immediate halt to the bombing of the Strip. The victims' bodies were transported to the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, where families gathered for a final farewell before burial amid scenes of profound grief. This strike is part of a reported escalation of Israeli raids on residential neighborhoods in the city since last night. The development follows a statement from Trump, who urged Israel to “stop bombing Gaza immediately” after the Hamas movement announced its agreement to a proposal regarding the release of detainees. Trump stated he believes Hamas has become "ready for a permanent peace." However, medical sources and eyewitnesses told Anadolu that despite this call, Israeli forces also struck two other homes in Gaza City and in the central Nuseirat refugee camp, leaving at least five people dead and several others injured. Overnight, Israeli air and artillery strikes continued across Gaza City and Khan Younis in the south. The Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in significant casualties. According to medical sources in the enclave, the offensive has left 66,288 dead and 169,165 injured, with a majority of the casualties being children and women. Furthermore, famine has claimed the lives of 457 Palestinians, including 152 children. The conflict continues with ongoing military operations and international calls for de-escalation.
