PALESTINIAN RESIDENT BEDIR AL-DARAUR SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Arabic)WEST BANK, PALESTINE - OCT. 4: Illegal Israeli settlers, accompanied by heavily armed soldiers, raided the Old City of Hebron on Saturday, Oct. 4, escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank. Eyewitnesses reported settlers moving freely under army escort, while local Palestinians were restricted in their movement. Palestinian resident Bedir al-Daraur condemned the incursion, saying it reflected ongoing efforts to pressure and displace communities in the area. The Old City of Hebron has been under increased restrictions on movement and frequent curfews since the war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023. According to official Palestinian data, since October 7, at least 1,048 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and approximately 10,300 have been injured. More than 19,000 have been arrested, including 400 children. Since October 2023, Israeli bombardment has killed nearly 66,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The UN and rights groups have repeatedly warned that the enclave is being rendered uninhabitable, with starvation and disease spreading rapidly.
