US, Los Angeles: Atwater Village Fiery Fatal Vehicle Into Tree

Los Angeles, United States - October 05, 2025 10/05/2025 12:00 am GMT-0700 ATWATER VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A driver was killed early Sunday morning after a vehicle slammed into a tree and erupted in flames along the southbound 5 Freeway Colorado Street off-ramp, authorities said. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Garcia, the crash was reported at 12:01 a.m., involving a single vehicle that went off the roadway and struck a tree near the off-ramp. Responding firefighters arrived to find the car head-on into a tree, fully engulfed in flames.Once the fire was extinguished, crews discovered one person dead inside the vehicle. The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced deceased at 12:19 a.m. by Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel. CHP later confirmed the body was “fully burned.” The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner was notified, though their arrival at the scene of the crash was delayed. CHP issued a SigAlert at 12:30 a.m., closing the southbound Colorado Street off-ramp for approximately four hours while investigators documented the scene and crews removed debris. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
