HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Macomb County deputies responded to an unusual call earlier this week when a deer became trapped in a backyard hammock and was unable to free itself.

A sergeant and deputy with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office arrived and worked carefully to calm the animal before cutting away the tangled ropes. After a few tense moments, the deer was successfully freed and quickly ran back into the nearby woods.

While not a typical call, the department said the incident reflects its deputies’ readiness to assist in any situation — from emergencies on the road to unexpected rescues in the community.
