VARIOUS OF 4TH REGIONAL BALKAN PROSECUTORS FORUM IN SOFIASOFIA, BULGARIA - OCT. 6, 2025: The 4th Forum of Balkan Prosecutors General, hosted by the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria, kicked off Monday, Oct. 6, in the capital Sofia. The two-day forum, held at the Boyana State Residence, brings together prosecutors general from Slovenia, Albania, Kosovo and Romania, as well as delegations from Serbia, Montenegro and Türkiye. Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Jelyazkov described the Balkans as a region defined by both challenges and opportunities, and praised the strong cooperation between Türkiye and Bulgaria in tackling irregular migration. Representing Türkiye, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals Muhsin Senturk described the gathering as “a strong model of legal cooperation,” emphasizing that it reflects “a shared commitment to act together against cross-border threats.” Highlighting the region’s strategic importance and shared challenges such as organized crime, terrorism, illegal migration, corruption and cybercrime, Senturk said regional cooperation beyond national efforts is “a necessity.” Bulgarian Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov also noted that the forum has evolved into a key platform for regional legal cooperation, and praised the strong partnership between the Turkish and Bulgarian prosecution services.
