TOKYO, JAPAN - OCT. 7, 2025: Demonstrators in Japan’s capital, Tokyo, staged a pro-Palestinian protest on Tuesday, Oct. 7, marking the second anniversary of the beginning of Israel’s genocidal attacks on Gaza. Demonstrators held banners and chanted anti-war slogans as they marched in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district during the protest, which was Organized by the All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Government Associations (Zengakuren). Participants denounced what they called “genocide in Gaza,” as well as Japan’s growing militarization and U.S.-Japan military cooperation, which they said fuels tensions with China. They also demanded the resignation of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party government and expressed solidarity with global anti-imperialist movements. Tuesday, Oct. 7, marks two years since Israel launched a genocidal attack on Palestinians following Hamas' assault. Since October 2023, the Israeli military has killed over 67,100 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children. The relentless bombardment has rendered the enclave virtually uninhabitable, resulting in mass displacement, starvation, and the spread of disease.
