SHOTLIST LONDON, UK (OCTOBER 7, 2025) (ANADOLU-ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF POLICE OFFICERS AND PRO-ISRAELI DEMONSTRATOR WEARING ISRAELI FLAG / ONE OF OFFICERS TALKING TO A PRO-ISRAELI DEMONSTRATOR LONDON, UK - OCTOBER 7: Students from leading UK universities marched through central London on Tuesday to mark the second year of the war in Gaza, with security forces intervening to prevent a potential clash between opposing groups. The demonstration, which saw a heavy police presence, began at King’s College London's Strand campus and proceeded past the London School of Economics (LSE), University College London (UCL), and SOAS University of London, ending at SOAS's Malet Street campus. A pro-Israeli demonstrator was removed from the area by security forces to prevent a possible face-off between the pro-Israel individual and the pro-Palestinian students. The incident occurred as a small, police-supervised pro-Israeli counter-demonstration was taking place nearby. Earlier, at the start of the main protest, students unfurled a long banner listing the names of those killed in Gaza outside King's College, temporarily blocking the entrance until university staff lifted it. The student protest comes amid heightened tensions following Israel's naval attack and seizure of the "Global Sumud Flotilla" vessels last week, which led to the detention of more than 470 activists from over 50 countries. The flotilla was attempting to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza and challenge Israel's long-standing blockade. Israel has imposed a strict blockade on Gaza, home to nearly 2.4 million people, for almost 18 years. According to Palestinian figures, Israeli military operations have killed more than 67,100 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, the majority being women and children, and have caused widespread destruction. Israeli and Hamas delegations began indirect negotiations in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh, discussing a proposed plan for a ceasefire and the release of captives.
