The "education and culture tents" provide a safe space for Palestinian students whose schools were destroyed during two years of Israeli attacks. For children cut off from formal education, the tents allow them to continue their studies. In addition to core subjects such as mathematics, Arabic, and English, the tents also teach Palestinian cultural heritage, while arts and cultural activities help children reclaim fragments of the childhood lost to conflict. Eight-year-old student Rulin Kashkash said the tents have been invaluable. "Because of the Israeli bombardments, we were deprived even of basic childhood rights like education and play. These tents are helping us continue learning," she said. Teacher Rawan Abu Lahiya explained the program’s purpose: "We established these tent schools to give children, who have been cut off from education during the war, a sense of normalcy. We teach mathematics, Arabic, English, and other essential subjects. The children love attending and benefit greatly from the experience." Two years of Israeli attacks have devastated Gaza’s schools and universities. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 97% of school buildings were partially or completely damaged. At least 668 schools were directly bombed, and 63 university buildings were destroyed. UN figures show that 17,237 students, 1,271 university students, and 967 educational staffwere killed. Gaza’s Education Ministry reports more than 25,700 students and 3,100 teachers were injured. With most education disrupted, nearly 660,000 children remain out of school, according to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
